Overview

If your midday desk lunch rotation is starting to feel a little bleak, there's a new reason to slip out of the office and head for the city. From Tuesday, May 12, Sydney CBD favourite Golden Avenue is adding a lineup of shawarma wraps to the menu at GA Bar, available weekdays from 11.30am–2.30pm.

The new menu comes from the team behind Anyday, the slick all-day diner tucked inside Golden Avenue's Clarence Street digs. While the restaurant has built a following for its polished Middle Eastern-inspired menu and late-night energy, these wraps are aimed squarely at the lunchtime crowd: quick enough to grab between meetings, substantial enough to mask a mid-week hangover, and definitely a stronger option than another sad sandwich at your desk.

Three versions are on offer, each served with a side of sumac fries. There's a lamb kofta wrap for $26, a chicken shish option for $25, and a falafel version for $20.

For the uninitiated, Golden Avenue (or GA, as the regulars lovingly call it) has become one of the CBD's most reliable all-day haunts, shifting from coffee stop and lunch spot into after-work drinks territory as the day rolls on. The bar itself leans moodier than the restaurant, making these wraps feel a little more elevated than your average grab-and-go lunch situation.

The shawarma wraps will be available exclusively from GA Bar, Monday to Friday from 11.30am–2.30pm.
