Overview

When Italian Street Kitchen first made the move to Queensland, it did so two years after making its base in Sydney, where it started serving up Roman-inspired dishes in Neutral Bay back in 2015. In the chain's home state, it has now expanded, adding new venues in Baulkham Hills and Ryde — and it's about to beef up its Brisbane presence as well.

Come September, Italian Street Kitchen will set up shop in West End's West Village, with the new store joining its existing venue in Newstead. Accordingly, Brisbanites will have two places to pick up the brand's twist on traditional Roman street food, which naturally includes plenty of pizza and pasta — such as the funghi pizza with fior di latte cheese, gorgonzola, two types of mushrooms, gremolata and extra virgin olive oil; and the traditional Sardinian-style gnocchetti Sardi salsiccia, which comes with pork and fennel sausage, as well as tomato, chilli, white wine, garlic and parmigiano-reggiano cheese.

Also on the menu: an antipasto selection, mains such as porchetta and bistecca, and tiramisu and gelato sandwiches for dessert. Italian Street Kitchen does a $19 weekday lunch special, too, so you can tuck into pizza, pasta or salad, plus a drink, for less than a lobster.

Patrons will also be able to enjoy the chain's cocktail range, which spans five different kinds of spritzes, as well as classics like negronis, bellinis and americanos — and drinks with names like Nonna's Cheeky Marg (as made with tequila, agave, passionfruit and coconut cream). And, there's three non-boozy cocktails on the menu.

The aim: to serve up dishes and drinks that a nonna might've made at home, but given an update worthy of Rome's streets.

When it starts welcoming in patrons, Italian Street Kitchen's new venue will slide into West Village's growing food precinct, which has also seen Harris Farm Markets and Beirut Bazaar open already in 2021.

Italian Street Kitchen will set up shop at West Village, West End from sometime in September — we'll update you with an exact opening date when it is announced.
