Overview

Miss Midgley's is one of Brisbane's most unique places to stay – a heritage guesthouse that feels more like stepping into someone's beautifully preserved private home than checking into a hotel. Tucked away in New Farm, the property dates back to the early 20th century and has been lovingly restored with a clear reverence for its past.

Each room is individually styled, filled with antique furniture, rich fabrics and collected objects that give the space a layered, lived-in feel. It's the opposite of uniform hotel design. Instead, every corner tells a story, making the stay feel personal and quietly transportive.

The guest experience feels intimate and relaxed. Guests have access to shared spaces including sitting rooms, verandahs and a leafy garden, along with a pool that adds a distinctly Queensland touch. Some suites are also dog-friendly, making it a rare option for those travelling with pets. There's no big-brand polish here – just thoughtful details and a strong sense of character.

Location-wise, you're in one of Brisbane's best neighbourhoods. James Street, New Farm Park, the Brisbane Powerhouse and a string of cafes, wine bars and restaurants are all within walking distance. Brisbane Airport is around 20-25 minutes away, and while parking is limited, the area is easy to explore on foot or via nearby public transport.
