Overview
The doors are open at Flinders Street Wharves as North Queensland welcomes a new era of entertainment and hospitality. Championing Townsville's laidback lifestyle, the landmark precinct will allow locals to enjoy the best of their city, while luring visitors and tourists from far and wide.
The $30 million hospitality precinct has taken up the space of the former Burns Philp & Co. building at 108 Flinders Street, with enviable waterfront views. The massive project is set to revitalise the area into a drinking, dining and entertainment destination, marking an exciting new chapter for tourism in the area.
Grant Morgan, co-owner of Flinders Street Wharves, says, "This project has been years in the making, and to officially welcome our first guests through the doors…is a historic occasion for this city. We are incredibly proud to deliver a destination where locals can celebrate the best of their city, and visitors can experience a new, vibrant tourism offering in North Queensland."
The enormous 2600 sqm riverfront day-to-night precinct, with capacity for up to 1000 patrons, aims to champion the local laid-back lifestyle while offering elevated, refined hospitality experiences. Importantly, it will create 120 local jobs and has ambitious plans to welcome over 350,000 guests in its first year.
The precinct includes The Kiosk, an all-day casual eatery by the waterfront, the Beer Garden alfresco space and The Bistro that serves pub classics and heroes woodfired pizzas and local seafood. You won't go thirsty with drinks being served across the venue at the Laneway Bar, the Merchants Bar and The Rooftop, which offers panoramic views and live entertainment.
