Whether you've planned your weekend's eats around it or it's snuck up on you for another year, you might be interested in knowing that this Saturday, May 28 marks International Burger Day — and two of Auckland's hottest eateries have teamed up to celebrate. If you're a burger fan you've probably already sampled the goods at Jo Bros, owned by Josh Barlow and Brody Jenkins. The duo originally made a name for themselves slinging burgs from their funky 80s food caravan, and now have two brick and mortar locations: 490 South Titirangi Road and 35 Point Chevalier Road. This weekend only, Jo Bros have teamed up with modern Korean eatery Gaja, found in Ponsonby Central, to create a couple of limited edition menu items that you're going to want to get before they're gone. Available at both Jo Bros' stores, they've introduced a Korean Barbeque fried chicken burger, stuffed with tempura free-range chicken, kimchi, iceberg lettuce, and Gaja's special barbeque sauce. You'll also want to order a special side of the 'yum yum' buffalo wings: buttermilk fried free-range wings with Gaja's special 'yum yum' glaze. As any good collab is a two-way street, Gaja is also sharing the love out of their Ponsonby outpost — they'll be slinging their wagyu katsu sandos with Jo Bros' original sauce. Hit up one, hit up both — we're not here to judge. Just make sure you celebrate international burger day in style and support this collab between two epic local eateries.
