Bang Bang, a vibrant hawker-style Pan Asian restaurant with outposts in St Kilda, Hampton and Mordialloc, has opened its next, and biggest venue yet, in an often overlooked suburb on the Mornington Peninsula: Frankston. The opening marks an exciting new chapter for the brand and the area as it expands its hospitality offerings for locals and visitors alike. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and bold flavours, Bang Bang boasts a contemporary menu influenced by the street food cultures of Japan, Vietnam, Thailand and India. Executive Chef Dan Poyner, who has been involved in the menu's evolution since the restaurant's inception in 2016, heads up the Frankston kitchen, bringing many of the signature dishes to the newest outpost. Regulars return time and time again for dishes such as crispy fried Sichuan eggplant, beef brisket gua bao, butter chicken curry, Thai roasted cauliflower, and a moreish katsu sando. If you want to sit back and relax, opt for one of three feed me menus to experience the best the kitchen has to offer. And there's no need to leave your dietary-restricted friends at home, with plenty of gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options available. Located on Playne Street in Frankston, the new sprawling venue can seat 134 guests and adds to the area's growing dining scene. At its latest location, the team will introduce After Dark, transforming the venue from a dinner destination into a late-night social hub on Friday and Saturday evenings, with DJs playing tunes late into the night. If you're not such a night owl, opt for Bang Bang Hour (between 5 and 6pm on weeknights and 4 to 6pm from Friday through Sunday) and grab $2 oysters and eggplant skewers, plus $15 cocktails. $10 bubbles and wines and $8 schooners.
