Roma Street Parkland
Find 16 hectares of subtropical garden just minutes from the CBD.
Overview
Roma Street Parkland turned an old rail yard into 16 hectares of subtropical garden right on the edge of Brisbane's CBD, and it's still one of the largest inner-city parks of its kind in the world. The Spectacle Garden's bold, sculptural planting and the shaded rainforest walk make it feel like you've left the city entirely, despite Roma Street Station sitting just across the road.
Free gas barbecues are dotted throughout the park, alongside picnic tables, playgrounds and an amphitheatre that hosts everything from outdoor cinema nights to food festivals. Keep an eye out for the resident eastern water dragons sunning themselves along the paths, and grab a coffee from the Garden Room Café if you'd rather not bring your own.
