Seven Martinis You Can Have Delivered to Your Virtual House Party

In partnership with

When quarantini hour strikes, call in the experts.

If 'social-distancing' is the phrase of COVID-19, then 'pivot' is the buzzword. This month, Sydney's bars and restaurants have turned on their heels with extraordinary speed, from welcoming a limited number of patrons to offering pick-up and delivery-only menus where they can. And, as our favourite local haunts reinvent themselves to keep up with government legislation, we'd like to keep supporting those hard-working bartenders who've always been there for us when we've needed a stiff drink and warm conversation. Next time you're dropping into Houseparty or Zoom for a socially responsible gathering, make sure you're ordering a couple of well shaken or stirred martinis from these seven Sydney venues.

If you chose pick-up over delivery, make sure you check the latest COVID-19 advice and social-distancing guidelines from the Department of Health before you leave home.

Mediterranean-influenced Franca is doing takeaway and delivery of its brekkie, lunch, dinner and booze offerings from 7am–9pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Its bottle shop has French rosé and cabernets, Australian rieslings and New Zealand sauvignon blancs, which you can order over the phone for delivery within the Potts Point area, and the ‘room service’ all-day menu is ferrying crab sandwiches with finger lime, and sirloin steaks with french fries, to homes across the eastern suburbs. We suggest a date night pairing of its pear tarte tatin ($29), which is big enough to share, with its Double Trouble martinis — Belvedere Lake Bartezek or Belvedere Smogory Forest Single Estate vodkas with Dolin Blanc and garnishes for $16. Or make it four for $60.

    How? Call (02) 8063 0178, 02 9197 2921 or 02 8063 0179. Minimum order is $50.

Butter is no stranger to home deliveries. The sneaker, chicken and champagne bars serve the masses direct to their doorsteps via Deliveroo  — including its comfort-in-a-bowl tonkotsu fried chicken ramen, the Biggie Shroom sandwich and the baller Size 13s. For $70, the latter includes a mix of chicken thighs, wings and tenders, alongside pickled cucumbers and three sauces. Plus, when you’re considering how hot you’d like your chicken, you can now spice up your order with $13 cocktails, like the Blue Berry Belvedere (vodka with blueberries, house-made syrup, soda and citrus), espresso martinis and single shots and mixers.

How? Order via Deliveroo from either Surry Hills or Parramatta.

When you want cocktails with a side of theatrics, The Roosevelt always delivers. Though the Macleay Street bar has packed up its nitrogen smoke and waistcoats for now, it is offering a takeaway service every night between 6–10pm. The Roosevelt’s takeaway menu has decadent, retro mains like chicken bomme femme with potato dauphinoise or beef bourguinon for $20, and desserts like key lime pie or apple and rhubarb crumble for $12. But for the real MVP treatment you’ll want to order ‘Roosevelt in Your Room’ — $15 cocktail packs so you can live out your isolated lifestyle like a golden age movie star. Our pick is the classic Belvedere Vodka martini, delivered with olives, citrus peels and chipped ice in a cryovaced pack. It’ll even lend you glassware and cocktail equipment if you don’t have the goods at home.

How? Order here or call/SMS 0423 203 119. Pick-up or delivery to the eastern suburbs only.

Dee Why’s all-day eatery usually sees its linen-clad diners for smashed avo or eggs benny with a side of brunch cocktails, but as the relatively new northern beaches cafe can’t welcome anyone inside nowadays it has temporarily pivoted to the new name: Beach House by Corretto. You can order tuna tacos, wagyu beef burgers and mushroom gnocchi to pick up or have delivered to your house. Bigger dishes are $22–38 and drinks start at $6 if you wanted to, say, add in a PS40 smoked lemonade to your meal. The best part? Corretto has a selection of premade bottled cocktails, each one serving two drinks for $18. Order the Pimped Lychee Martini on Bopple — the light mix of Belvedere, St Germain, lychee, orange bitters and bubbles is refreshing way to wash down that beer battered john dory fish and chips.

How? Call (02) 9981 2061 or order via Bopple. Available Wednesday to Sunday, 12–3pm and 5–9pm.

When you can’t dine in at Bondi’s intimate izakaya, bring the party snacks and bottled martinis back home. Isabel has closed its doors on the moody Japanese-inspired bar for now, but in its place is a new takeaway menu, Isabel at Home. You can now order ramen (the vegan one, too), gyoza and a selection of sides, like charcoal edamame and shiitake and cucumber pickles, to your abode in the eastern suburbs. Isabel is also slinging bottled martinis and highball kits your way for $8–14. Its vodka-based highball comes with strawberry gum and finger lime soda, fresh finger lime and lemon aspen. There’s an espresso martini, too, with fermented coffee, miso and whey, with coffee-dusted puffed rice. Takeaway is available between Tuesday–Saturday, 4.30pm till late, and each cocktail kit makes up to three drinks.

How? Call 1800 411 774 to pick-up or have delivered within the eastern suburbs only.

Kareela’s modern Australian restaurant has adapted to the times with its Jensens at Home menu, offering entrees, mains and desserts that replicate the dining-in experience for its customers now eating at home. There’s lamb rump with roast moroccan eggplant, greek pizza with feta, cherry tomato, onion, olives and tzatziki, and Jensen’s well loved desserts like the banana pudding with hot butterscotch sauce and sticky cream. Vegans and vegetarians are also well catered for. At the moment, you can order over the phone and pick up from the restaurant from Wednesday to Sunday only. When you’re planning your take-out order, add a couple of bottled cocktails to the list for $30 — like the Pearls of Wisdom (a premade drink of Belvedere, passionfruit liqueur, citrus, pineapple and popping pearls). Each cocktail serves two.

How? Call (02) 9528 8433 for pick-up only. Delivery coming soon.
