Overview

Inspired by the adventures of 19th-century explorers Roberto Ivens and Hermenegildo Capelo, The Ivens is the 'explorer's hotel' for those seeking unique experiences.

Beneath the palatial exterior, travellers will find curiosities and elegance of a bygone era: plush velvet chairs and dark wooden library wall panelling, exquisitely patterned rugs, bright feature pieces and little palm trees, with wall decorations harkening back to colonial exploration and naturalist illustrations.

There are 86 rooms, from simple but luxurious hotel rooms to signature suites and a penthouse with river views. The decor is refined and bright, with fun little decorative touches of nature. For entertainment, there's an in-house jazz club, a lively Italian osteria, the Crudo Bar and the Gastro Bar, with light bites and a smashing cocktail menu. Guests can also opt for personalised itineraries and tailored stays. Explore your own way.
