Cervejaria Ramiro
Lisbon is known for its incredible seafood — and this charmingly retro eatery is considered one of the best places to enjoy it.
Overview
Seafood and beer – two great loves that partner perfectly in the world-famous Cervejaria Ramiro. This Portuguese beer bar has featured on Somebody Feed Phil and Bourdain's No Reservations. While it was once famously a no-reservations, walk-in-only affair, they now take bookings. It's noisy, fast-paced and vibrant, and since the 1950s, this no-frills spot has been popular with locals and foodie fanatic tourists alike.
Their must-order dish? Gamba tigre grelhada — giant tiger prawns in butter. Most seafood is served simply, maybe with salt and a squeeze of lemon — it's just that good and fresh. The focus is shellfish and molluscs — try the clams in garlic sauce — but you can also snack on Jamon Iberico and manchego cheese. For dessert? A steak sandwich. No, really, that's been their traditional finisher. But they also have sweet cakes, fruit and vodka with lemon ice cream. And lots of beer.
