If you were diagnosed with coeliac disease ten years ago you were given a packet of rice crackers, an apple and an apologetic smile as you were sent out into the big, bad, wheat-filled world. Now, it's a different story. For folks that can't tolerate gluten, there are now (really good) gluten-free pizza places, breweries that brew only gluten-free beer and even gluten-free croissants in the bakery section at Woolies. And, once a year, there's also an entire expo over an entire weekend just for gluten-free foods.

On the weekend of October 5–6, the Convention and Exhibition Centre will be wall-to-wall with gluten-free snacks. We're talking cannoli from Preston's GF cannoli shop, pizza from Shop225, toasties and Hella Good's souvlakis — all without any trace of gluten. A big deal for coeliacs.

Along with the food vendors, there will be over 70 stallholders slinging free samples and other groceries to fill your pantry with. Plus, you can learn more about coeliac disease at one of the talks happening throughout the day, or get tips on cooking without contamination.

The expo will run from 9am till 5pm each day, and tickets are $15 online or $18 at the door. If there's ever a time you don't have to worry about pesky traces of gluten, it's here. Go forth and feast, friends.
