Overview
Bordeaux, Napa and Chianti claim a lot of headlines as far as wine regions go, but there are countless other destinations where the terroirs, grape varieties and winemaking styles hit just as hard. This is what Into the Vines' next EuroVino event is focused on, as they take guests on a vinous journey through the world's lesser-known wine regions at The Rochester Hotel, aka The Rochey, on Thursday, May 8.
Uncorking 25 wines across the night, you'll have the chance to sip vino from Armenia, the UK, Hungary and Slovakia. Plus, Chalmers Wines are on-hand to present rare Italian varieties gathered fresh from the Vinitaly international wine competition, while unusual local drops, such as Eleven Sons, are ready to explore directly from South Australia's Limestone Coast.
It might sound like you have to be deep into viticulture to head along, but Into the Vines' events are shaped to keep the mood light and free from snobs. Alongside your sips and snacks, the team hands over a glossary, a wine scorecard and conversation starters to help you feel like a wine-tasting aficionado.
For something special, Into the Vines has teamed up with Carlton's Al Dente Enoteca to host a saucy Eurotica Masterclass, priced at $18 extra. Guided by chef Andrea Vignali and sommelier Jay Bessell, you'll indulge in a four-bite and wine pairing. On the menu is scallop and tea pie, cacio e pepe with Australian wattleseed, olive all'Ungaro, and oysters with Sicilian blood orange mignonette.
