MIFF Summer Screenings at Bunjil Place
Check out a selection of past MIFF flicks on Bunjil Place's outdoor screen.
The Melbourne International Film Festival didn't go ahead in its usual form in 2021 — for the second year in a row. So, it once again ran a virtual fest instead; however, there's no denying the power of a seeing a movie on a big screen with an audience.
Cinephiles across the city are obviously crossing their fingers and toes that MIFF runs as normal in 2022. In the interim, though, the fest is hosting summer screenings at Bunjil Place, which it also did last year. Between Thursday, February 3–Sunday, February 6, you can head along and check out a selection of past MIFF flicks on the site's outdoor screen — with tickets costing $7, and that price including either an ice cream or popcorn from the candy bar.
The movie setup also includes pre-film DJs and live performances, as well as a range of other food and drink options.
As for what you'll be watching, it all kicks off with Ablaze, the true story of the first Aboriginal filmmaker William Bill Onus, before treating Melbourne audiences to a big-screen session of 2021 Sundance Film Festival hit CODA. Also on the bill: the best of MIFF's 2021 short films, all getting their own dedicated evening, plus New Zealand musical Daffodils to celebrate Waitangi Day.
