Across one big weekend, Werribee Park's Victoria State Rose Garden is set to bloom bright for the annual State Rose & Garden Show. But this is a whole lot more than just a festival of flowers.

From Saturday, December 10–Sunday, December 11, the six sprawling acres of rose gardens will come alive with a riot of colour and more than 5000 blooms, alongside pop-up nursery stalls selling a wide range of plants, pots and homewares. You can even hone your green thumb with a program of guided tours, expert talks and plant care demonstrations, led by names like Vasili Kanidiadis and TV presenter Melissa King.

Elsewhere, try a free workshop covering topics like posy-making, propagating and seedling planting. And scope out the striking floral installations created by renowned florists Rebecca Noble (LLB Florals) and Kayla Moon (XX FLOS).

In between exploring the blooms, you'll be treated to live tunes, eats and drinks — including sparkling treats from the Prosecco Van, chocolate and rose petal cannoli by Cannoleria, and multiple rose-flavoured ice cream options. Like the sound of a high tea picnic amongst the blooms? Pre-order a luxe picnic spread from The Refectory Parlour at Werribee Park Mansion to elevate your weekend.

Entry is free to the rose show, though if you'd like to drop a gold coin donation, it'll go to supporting the garden's hard-working volunteers.

State Rose & Garden Show is open from 10am–4pm both days.
