Overview

If your favourite kind of art is the stuff that's contemporary, independent and far from boring, your collection could soon be in for a boost. After a pandemic-driven hiatus, The Other Art Fair returns to North Melbourne's Meat Market from Thursday, May 26–Sunday, May 29, delivering a dynamic curation of artwork, plus installations, performances, workshops and more.

A far cry from the pretentious art fairs of old, Saatchi Art's touring event will this year showcase works from over 100 contemporary artists, with the supporting program covering everything from live tattooing to virtual reality experiences. You'll catch eye-opening pieces from established and emerging Aussie talent, including Amanda Johnstone, Dan Withey, Anahita Amouzegar and others.

Meanwhile, Lily Gloria, Kitts Tattoo and Really Nice Poke will be creating intricate live tattoo art on a no-bookings basis, and visitors can escape reality with a VR scavenger hunt crafted by artist Kasia Frankowicz.

And if you fancy browsing artworks with a drink in hand, you'll have plenty of options. A pop-up bar is set to pour exclusive sips by Black Pearl, Gin Palace, Pearl Diver Cocktails & Oysters and Union Electric, and there'll be an array of food stalls to choose from, too.
