Tucked off Flinders Lane, this contemporary art organisation has championed makers across ceramics, jewellery, glass and textiles since 1970, from gallery exhibitions to major public commissions. Founded in 1970, Craft Victoria has spent more than five decades showcasing craft and design, combining an exhibition program with a working retail shop that sells ceramics, jewellery, glass, textiles, and design objects by Australian makers.
The space itself is part of the drawcard: an underground gallery and shop in Watson Place, designed by architect Karen Abernathy. Beyond exhibitions, Craft Victoria runs workshops, talks and professional development programs for practitioners, and its Craft Agency connects makers with architects and artists on public and private commissions.
The exhibition calendar turns over year-round across the main gallery and a smaller project space, backed by an annual program of festivals and public talks. Entry is free.
