Success
Paying the cost for being a rockstar comedian.
Overview
Endless motivational posters with quotes overlaying pictures of mountains, oceans and cute animals tell you that success is basically everything and that being a go-getter is inherently awesome. What these posters leave out is the cost of the thing.
Success is a play about a man called Carl who becomes the best comedy act to emerge from New Zealand since Flight of the Conchords. However, things get out of control on the comedy circuit (they are basically the rockstars of this era), and his loose lifestyle catches up with him one drunken night in Los Angeles. Carl decides to weather the media storm back home in Wellington with his long-time friends Derek and Jules. Here their pity is short-lived as the consequences of years of betrayal and plagiarism meet him head on.
