The Auckland Beer Mile Walking Tour
Auckland's newly coined stroll between beer bars.
Overview
The route from Morningside to Eden Terrace has been given an official title. The Auckland Beer Mile takes brew lovers on a walking tour of seven top local craft beer venues. While a mile rolls off the tongue easier, the leisurely stroll between bars is actually nearly double the measurement at 3.2-kilometres. Hence, the Beer Mile was designed with public transport in mind; the Morningside Train Station sits at one end and Mount Eden Station at the other, while a bus runs the length of the route.
This weekend marks the opening of the Auckland Beer Mile, and to celebrate the organisers are hosting a guided walking tour on Saturday, 1 June. Starting in Morningside at local freehouse 605 at 1pm, the tour will visit all seven locations offering attendees a range of beers (and plenty of time to burn them off) from Urbanaut Brewery, Garage Project's Kingsland taproom, 80s-themed barcade Save Ferris, Eden Terrace's hardcore craft bar The Beer Jerk Bunker, ol' English pub Galbraith's Alehouse, and barbecue establishment Brothers Juke Joint.
