Overview

Since 1936, Mount Lawley's Inglewood Hotel has been a favoured watering hole among locals. That's because the venue is exactly what it says on the packet: it's a pub, nothing more, nothing less. And it delivers all the essentials: beer garden, bottle shop, live sports and a menu of classic pub stodge.

Sports enthusiasts are looked after here, with loads of screens dedicated to games of all kinds. Be your passion Test cricket, the FFA Cup or the European Diving Championship, there's a stool with your name on it. Fair warning, though: if you're there to watch a match in the front bar, you can expect to be in the company of some pretty fervent fans, unafraid to express their triumphs (or disappointments) unabashedly.

Got a quieter drink or meal on your mind? Head for the beer garden or the restaurant for classics such as beef, Guinness and mushroom pie ($22) or garlic-rosemary lamb rack with duck fat roast potatoes, baby carrots, broccolini and red wine jus ($36).

Penny-pinchers will be pleased with the generous weekday specials: Tuesdays you can grab a 250-gram sirloin for $20, Thursdays you can treat yourself to barbecue ribs and a loaded jacket potato for $25, while Fridays you can score a pint of Furphy with your fish and chips for just $30. Moreover, there's trivia, poker nights, live music and other fun events to keep you entertained.
