Overview

HEAVY JAMS, MAN, HEAVY JAMS! That's what Wooden Shjips create from their psychedelic pocket of San Francisco, and lucky are we that they are bringing said jams to Sydney for the first time. As if no time had passed between the end of the summer of love and 2010, Wooden Shjips is comprised of four kind of rough looking dudes (pussycats underneath, presumably) who play fuzzed out rock with a pinch of Kraut minimalism.

Signed to the excellent Holy Mountain Records, their self-titled record is a good example of Stone Age meets New Age. For all their thumping thrash-outs and organ chuggers, they're also the kind of band who made a holiday cassingle and donated all proceeds from it to a local food bank. In other words, the kind of band that the phrase "good guys, bad band" doesn't apply to.

Sydney faves Naked on the Vague and Circle Pit fill out the support slots, clearly marking this a show that's sure to be a contender for best of the year. Am I getting a little carried away? Whatever, man, heavy jams.
