Rufus Du Sol Will Take Over Carriageworks for Two Nights of Electro Bangers for Vivid Sydney 2019
The ARIA Award-winning trio is returning to perform on home turf.
Last week, the first act of Vivid 2019 was announced: the legendary post-punk band The Cure. Now, another big name has dropped for the Southern Hemisphere's largest festival of music, light and ideas — and it's from a very different genre and era. ARIA Award-winning Aussie electronic act Rüfüs Du Sol will take to the stage for two exclusive Australian live shows this June.
While The Cure will be taking over the Opera House, Rüfüs Du Sol will be heading to Redfern on June 13 and 14 — to perform inside industrial multi-arts centre Carriageworks. The two Vivid shows will be the band's only Aussie performances during their mid-year visit Down Under, following a sold-out national tour earlier this year, as well as appearances at Coachella and South America's Lollapalooza.
The Sydney three-piece have released two chart-topping (and platinum) albums in their short career, with Atlas in 2014 then Bloom in 2015. The song 'You Were Right' — from their second album — also won an ARIA Award for Best Dance Release in 2015. Other hits you'll most definitely recognise include 'Take Me', 'Like an Animal' and 'Say a Prayer for Me', as well as 'Treat You Better' of their latest album Solace (2018).
The band will be supported at Carriageworks by another NSW musician — Willaris K, an electronic artist best-known for his single 'Alchemy'. Check out the band's recent performance at Michigan's Electric Forest Festival below, for a taste of what to expect in June.
Apart from The Cure, no other live music acts have yet been announced for Vivid Sydney 2019. The rest of the lineup expected to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
Rüfüs Du Soul will perform two shows at Vivid Sydney at Carriageworks on Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14. You can register for pre-sale access here until 11.59pm on Tuesday, February 26, with tickets going on sale at 10am on Wednesday, February 27. General sale will begin at 10am on Friday, March 1.
