Overview
If you're a soccer fan, you've probably nabbed tickets to the upcoming Western Sydney Wanderers versus Sydney FC Derby Match by now — it's taking over Parramatta's Bankwest Stadium on Saturday, May 1. The two rival teams are going head-to-head in what promises to be the biggest event in the Wanderers' season.
But the party doesn't have to stop once the game wraps up. Parramatta has heaps of late-night bars that are perfect for celebratory kick-ons. Here are six spots that'll keep the good times rolling — and the good news is they're all less than a 20-minute walk from the stadium.

If your group is looking for a classy way to finish off the night, head to Parramatta’s highly lauded rooftop bar Nick & Nora’s. It’s the sixth venue by the Speakeasy Group (Eau de Vie, Mjolner, Boilermaker House) and is located all the way up on the 26th floor of the V by Crown development — so expect views aplenty, alongside an opulent 30s-inspired fit-out and one serious champagne list. It seats 300 people all up, and the expansive terrace looks out to Sydney Harbour and the CBD. As well as the 50 champagne labels, there’s also a selection of 900 spirits behind the bar, which are used to create the 33-strong cocktail list — think martinis, sours and champagne-infused drops.

Set beneath Church Street’s Meriton Altitude Towers, Alex & Co. is a massive all-day bar and eatery. It sits right along the Parramatta River and spans 600-square-metres — and boasts sweeping multimillion-dollar views, of course. The venue really brings the party vibes, too, with DJs playing a few times a week. And the extensive cocktail list will help you keep the night going, too — try the refreshing One in a Melon (Sour Patch Kids-infused vodka, watermelon, egg white, lemon) or the Butterfly Effect (gin, chambord, lemon juice, butterfly pea, aquafaba). For eats, expect familiar pub favourites that will keep you fuelled well into the night.

Set in Parramatta’s bustling Eat Street, the local instalment of Cuban-themed diner Coco Cubano offers outdoor seating, an extensive all-day menu and fiesta vibes aplenty. Head there once the soccer action wraps up to sip margaritas, frosé and piña coladas or grab jugs of sangria and Pimm’s for the table. Then tuck in to Cuban pub eats that include tapas — think fish, grilled chicken or beef tacos; haloumi and mushroom quesadillas; salt and pepper calamari; and cuban sandwiches — and giant bowls of loaded nachos. Be sure to save room for dessert — our pick is the churros, which you can enjoy either with ice cream and melted chocolate or in sundae form with brownie crumble, dulce de leche and chocolate fudge.

The Woolpack Hotel, founded way back in 1796, is a stalwart pub in the Parramatta area — though it’s been given an impressive facelift in recent years. Its many spaces make it ideal for a wide range of tastes. The main bar offers lounges and ottomans alongside a detailed wine list and cocktail menu. If you’re looking for a rowdy time instead, head over to the sports bar. It boasts both indoor and outdoor plasma TVs, pool tables and a courtyard to boot. Naturally, the pub serves up good pub grub from in-house restaurant Papa Bear Bistro. The bar is open until 4am on Saturdays and is a close walk both from Bankwest Stadium and to the train station.
