A Bondi cafe institution serving reliable brunch favourites, strong coffee and dinner a few nights a week.
Overview
The Depot has been part of Bondi's cafe scene since 2008, starting from a small corner in North Bondi before moving into its current home on Warners Avenue in 2021. The blue-and-white striped cafe faces the beach, with plenty of outdoor seating for sunny mornings and a steady stream of locals, surfers and visitors coming through for coffee and breakfast.
The menu covers all the Sydney cafe classics, but with a few more interesting turns. There's a breakfast quesadilla smothered in smoky chipotle aioli and tomato salsa, while the eggs brisket Benedict swaps the usual sourdough for a croissant loaf and is a constant sell-out. The corn-and-cheese waffle is another popular order.
From Wednesday to Friday, The Depot also opens for dinner, often with a special such as the $25 Friday roast or $20 steak night. Ask a Bondi local where they go regularly, and chances are The Depot will come up. It's a long-standing part of the neighbourhood, and still one of the places locals return to.
