Overview

Following a huge multimillion-dollar renovation and refurbishment, the Bondi Pavilion is set to finally reopen to the public. The rejuvenated space will feature an art gallery, cultural spaces, a new area called the Bondi Story Room, a pottery studio, new amenities and an expansive public courtyard, plus the previously announced food and drink tenants.

To celebrate the return of The Pav, Waverley Council is putting on a free reopening party featuring live music, exhibitions, talks, workshops and an array of community activities. From 6pm on Wednesday, September 21 the pavilion will be open for the local community to come and check out the transformation while enjoying a range of activities.

The opening was initially slated for Thursday, September 22 but due to the recently announced National Day of Mourning public holiday, it has been moved to the night before. Any and all previous registrations for the event are still valid for the new date.

More than 20 local musicians will be performing across the night including the Bondi Glee Club, a 14-piece Latin big band who will be taking over the courtyard stage and Bondi WAVE alumni Lili Alaska who will be performing in the pavilion's music studios.

Other highlights from the night's program include a First Nations shelling workshop in the High Tide Room, pottery classes, a showing of the Waverley Art Prize finalists in the art gallery, the unveiling of the Bondi Story Room and food trucks to keep you well fed.

The event is free but you're required to register to ensure your spot on the night. If you can't make it to the opening night, there's plenty happening at the pavilion across its first week including architecture tours and Dharawal language workshops. Check out the schedule on the What's On page of the pavilion website.
