Overview

Art and wrestling make a strange pairing, but for one night only on Wednesday, July 24 from 5pm, the body-slamming thrills of the wrestling arena will be the inspiration for an exhibition at The Lord Gladstone and Goodspace Gallery spanning multiple disciplines including tattooing, photography, sculpture and graphic design.

Cream of the Crop will showcase the talents of 25 local artists, including Lauren Winzer, a tattoo artist who counts the likes of Miley Cyrus and Post Malone amongst her clients; Harley Jones, an illustrator who has created album covers for Nelly Furtado and Tove Lo; and Sam Evans, a painter and multimedia artist who has collaborated with rap star Westside Gunn.

However, the event is no ordinary art show. The Lord Gladstone will be transformed into a two-level wrestling wonderland, with roaming wrestlers, a wrestling arena and wrestling-themed cocktails and snacks. There will even be a smackdown between two pro wrestlers at 9pm as the warm-up for a performance by Sydney-based punk sextet Grand Final.

While entry to the event is free, many of the artworks on display will also be available for purchase. Twenty percent of all sales will be donated to Clermont Connect, a charity raising funds for a rural Queensland town impacted by regional mining downturns.
