Overview
Australia's largest marathon (and one of the eight prestigious Abbott World Marathon Majors) is returning to Sydney this August — and this year they're offering more than just a race. As runners tackle the 42-kilometre course from North Sydney across the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the Sydney Opera House Forecourt, spectators can soak up the electric atmosphere from viewing spots along the route.
Beyond the race, the TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS is turning the city into a week-long celebration, with race-week activations and recovery hubs popping up around Circular Quay. Whether you're a running obsessive or simply looking for a fun day out, there are plenty of spots across the course to join in on the action.

On Sunday, August 30, the race course itself will be home to some of Australia's best live music and DJ sets. Two brand new music stages will pop up along the marathon route at Driver Avenue and Mrs Macquarie's Chair. The event is free and all-ages, so friends, family, and runners themselves can enjoy the DJ mixes and performances.
Sydney Swans Block Party will be held at Driver Avenue in Moore Park and kicks off from 7am with DJ James Mac getting the party started. From there, Tigerlily, The Potbelleez, Set Mo and Nina Las Vegas will keep the energy high across the morning and afternoon, with the tunes continuing until 2.30pm.
Over at Mrs Macquarie's Chair, the epic Harbour Party lineup includes Anna Lunoe, Discovery, Mashd N Kutcher, Alex Hayes and Bag Raiders closing out the stage from 2pm. The introduction of the two stages across the race course doubles as buzzing viewing hubs and gives spectators and running enthusiasts even more reason to plan their day around the events. So, pick your spot, settle in and soak up the running celebrations Sydney-style.

Bag Raiders
The TCS Sydney Marathon celebrations will close out with a bang (and more electronic tunes) thanks to local artist Young Franco, who will be headlining Motion Festival over at Customs House, Circular Quay. Motion Festival is a brand-new official race-week live site that kicks off at 4pm on Thursday, August 27 and is open from 7am to 9pm Friday, August 28–Sunday, August 30. It's built around the pillars of Sound, Move, Taste and Connect.

Here, runners and spectators can fuel up together with Sydney's best carb-focused vendors, recover at the RCVRI hub with sauna and cold plunges and experience runner's high through sound at the REALM experience. Young Franco will take to the stage at Motion Festival on race day for a set that doubles as the official marathon after-party.
With harbour views, live music and one of the world's most beautiful marathon courses, race day is shaping up to be a city-wide celebration to remember. Whether you want to soak up the runner's high from the race or simply want to dance to some of Australia's top-tier music acts, the TCS Sydney Marathon is one to add to your calendar.
