Overview

With every new report from Manus Island or Nauru, it's easy to start feeling hopeless about Australia's treatment of asylum seekers. So, Newtown's Parliament on King is inviting you to a dinner that'll restore your faith — and have you astonished at what some people can endure without losing their optimism.

Introducing the first Hope Dinner. To be held on Saturday, June 25 as part of World Refugee Week, this three-course meal will feature traditional cooking by asylum seekers and refugees now settled Australia. In between dishing up, they'll be telling you stories, about how they came to be where they are today — from leaving their homelands to adapting to life in a new country. Plus, there'll be spoken word performances, presented by WWM Poetry.

Two sittings will take place — the first at 6pm and the second at 7.30pm. Tickets are just $20, food included, so you'd be well advise to snap yours up ASAP.
