UPDATE: January 12, 2021 — The Rocks Picnic has been postponed until further notice. We'll be sure to keep you updated with further information and dates.
Now that the warm weather has well and truly arrived, it would be remiss not to spend as much of your weekend outside as you possibly can. And what better way than milling about a market, then having a waterside picnic? On top of The Rocks' regular weekend market, it's added a Sunday market overlooking Sydney Harbour, so you can pick up some picnic-perfect treats to do just that.
You can get the likes of bagels from NY-style deli Brooklyn Bagel Boys, antipasto goods from Backa Sydney, next-level drinks from Ervas Bitters and pretty much everything else you need from local favourite The Fine Food Store — and you'll want to nab some ice cream from Gelatissimo or OTT lamingtons from new dessert spot Tokyo Lamington, too. As you'll be having an al fresco feed, you'll likely need some cutlery, which you can pick up from the eco-friendly Untrashy stall, which will be slinging bamboo cutlery and silicone cups. Then, roll out your picnic rug.
There'll be a stack of entertainment every week as well — think live tunes and kid-friendly activities. You can also get zen with the event's free Sunday morning yoga sessions, starting from 9.30am, should you wish to get bendy prior to feasting.
The Rocks Picnic runs from 10am–3pm every Sunday over summer. Check out more details over here.
