Come December, the red-hot regional hub of Bathurst will be descended upon by A-list Aussie musos, their fans and the festy-heads that just love a party. Back for its ninth rendezvous, Vanfest is hitting a brand new locale with the same big, bright, out-of-town energy it's known for.
Taking over the base of Mount Panorama/Wahluu, on the land of the Wiradjuri people, the music-soaked weekender is shaking up the usual offering at the renowned racetrack. In its new home, the festival is 2.5 hours closer to Sydney's streets, so there's no excuse for any city slickers to miss the party.
Most importantly, who's headlining? Taking out prime posi is Hilltop Hoods, the Aussie trio that long ago reached legacy status in the music scene here and abroad. The multi-faceted talent that is Tash Sultana is bringing their instantly recognisable musicalities; and The Presets will be supercharging audiences with their electronic energy. Tones and I is bringing her groove-heavy bops — which have garnered a cult following since she burst onto the scene in 2018 — and so too is Hockey Dad and LDRU.
Joining the bonafide faves is the up-and-coming wave of stage talent and Triple J's 2022 Unearthed winner.
Ticket-wise, there's a few different ways to play. Single-day and weekend passes get you entry and entertainment, and a Vancity pass gets you into the sprawling camping precinct. Looking to get a little luxe? Nab yourself a VIP pass to secure prime vantage point (read: a private viewing garden), plus access to an exclusive bar, VIP bathrooms, phone charging stations aplenty and a safe space to leave your things (for optimum dance abilities).
Message the group chat, gather your camp crew and get ready to kickstart December in Bathurst.
Vanfest will hit the base of Mount Panorama from Friday, December 2 till Saturday, December 3, 2022. To discover the full lineup and secure your tickets, head to the website.
