Located in Sydney's Lower North Shore, Annata has become an important fixture in the local dining scene, offering a place for both locals to return to and visitors from further afield to travel to. Since opening in 2015, Annata has evolved into the vibrant venue it is today, moving from Crows Nest to St Leonards while maintaining its reputation as a bustling spot to wine and dine. When John Bligh acquired the restaurant in December 2020, he faced unprecedented challenges from COVID lockdowns and the pandemic's enduring impacts, which could easily have ended his hopes and dreams for the venue. Instead, through resilience and an unwavering vision, Bligh came out the other end stronger, with renewed clarity and focus that have seen him take Annata from strength to strength. Executive Chef Jordan Garcia presents food that is creative yet refined, precise yet driven by unique flavours. His food is designed to sit in perfect harmony with Annata's carefully curated wine list, spanning more than 200 varieties that hero boutique producers. Members of the Annata Wine Lovers club gather on Saturday afternoons to savour complimentary wine tastings, exemplifying the restaurant's community-focused mindset. Visit on Wednesday or Thursday to sample the signature five-course degustation menu, curated around a wine theme, with each course paired with two wines, encouraging guests to explore how terroir, climate, and winemaking technique not only shape the flavour in the glass, but also transform the entire dining experience. Chef's Tuesday Tastings allow diners to experience Garcia's creative process up close and personal, serving as a test kitchen where customers play a crucial role by offering feedback and constructive criticism. The opportunity to participate in the experimental meals at a discounted price strengthens the relationship between diners and staff at Annata, making the community an important part of Annata's journey. For a memorable wine-led dining experience, where customers are listened to, conversation is encouraged, and the philosophy that great food and great wine are inextricably linked underpins the journey, you won't go astray at Annata.
