And the kitchen's open until 2am. Now that's a fancy late night dining option.

Overview

If you’re afraid of heights or extravagant luxury, the rooftop bar at the Sydney Intercontinental is not the place for you. The Club Intercontinental Supper Club bar boasts panoramic views of Sydney Harbour and, from the end of June, is open to the public. Yes, the public (including you) will soon be able to sip cocktails overlooking Sydney Harbour. Not bad.

Menu-wise, things run from affordably fancy to ostentatiously opulent. You can cram a $19 pork jowl with parmesan and piccalilli into your pork jowl while rubbing shoulders with guests such as One Direction and Oprah Winfrey (if you linger long enough). You can toast the scenery with an all-Australian wine list and an Australian cheese plate of Berrys Creek Riverine Blue, Holy Goat La Luna, Maffra cloth-aged cheddar and Barossa Valley Wanera ($32).

Or you can also weep into your top-end Duval-Leroy, Taittinger or G.H. Mumm champagne because you’ve had a taste of the good life and now you just can’t go back. Heck, just drop $1575 on a 1994 Grange and be done with it. It's at this point we'd like to point out there are, in fact, affordable beers, sake and cocktails on the menu — and food is served until 2am. Nice.

It’s the kind of decadence that will make you feel like you and your friends are the cast of Sex and the City at the Soho House club rooftop pool. While the bar was previously restricted to hotel guests, it will soon be open to the public so you won’t have to pretend to be Annabel Bronstein but you probably should don your Camilla kaftan so you fit right in.

Find the Club Intercontinental Supper Club on the top floor of the Intercontinental at 117 Macquarie Street, Sydney. Open to the public from late June, Wednesday to Saturday 9pm-late.
