Overview

If you're in need of a retreat to spoil not only yourself but also your trusted four-legged friend, you're in luck. Just a short walk from Central Station is a slick new dog-friendly stay. 202 Elizabeth, located at the titular address, joins the influx of boutique hotels located in the heart of Surry Hills.

This spot boasts panoramic views from a leafy rooftop bar and allows if not encourages your furry companion to tag along for the trip.

There are 38 rooms to settle into, along with an open-air rooftop space to soak up local views and a private garden tucked away in the ground-floor courtyard. Surry Hills locals will also be able to enjoy a vitamin D hit on the rooftop during morning neighbourhood yoga sessions.

Future plans for the accommodation include an outpost for Handpicked Wines, where you'll be able to sample a selection of sips. And if you find the bottle for you, take it back to your room or enjoy it on the roof.

This sleek six-level hotel has been constructed with sustainability at the forefront of the creation process. Owner Diana Ren and designer Lisa Madigan have ensured that 202 Elizabeth is sustainable at its core, hence the use of cross-laminated timber in the construction of the hotel due to its carbon-negative quality.

The rooms maintain an earthy feel through organic hues and playful wallpaper from Kingdom Home Design. Plus, 202 Elizabeth is littered with leafy greens that breathe life into the space.

Upon arrival, a complimentary welcome tea awaits guests in their room, alongside other little luxuries. Once you are able to fully explore your room, you'll discover robes from Australian designer Piyama, toiletries from Hunter Lab, and a mini bar stocked up with complimentary organic sodas and snacks of both the sweet and savoury kind.

There are also puppy turn-down treats and pet tags available for any of the honoured four-legged guests, courtesy of General Manager Adam Males' french bulldog Sochi, who has been aptly appointed the hotel's official Director of Pet Relations. Plus, if you're at a loss for places outside the hotel that you can enjoy with your pooch, Sochi has ensured that the staff are in-the-know about where all of the best dog-friendly cafes and restaurants are located.
