Sydneysiders Who Visited These Venues Are Asked to Get Tested and Self-Isolate
NSW Health has sent out an alert for a number of locations, after a new locally acquired COVID-19 case was identified in the city's eastern suburbs.
At the beginning of 2020, the idea that visiting a restaurant or pub might mean you'd need to self-isolate afterwards would've seemed very strange indeed. But, that scenario is now a normal part of life during a pandemic — and one that New South Wales residents have become used to during the state's response to COVID-19.
Naming locations and venues that positive coronavirus cases have visited is key element of NSW's containment strategy, and today, Wednesday, May 5, the state government has announced the latest places that Sydneysiders need to note. The reason: a new locally acquired case of COVID-19 has been identified, in a man in his 50s who has not been overseas recently, and doesn't work in a hotel quarantine, border or health role.
NSW Health has listed eight places, all during windows of time between Friday, April 30–Sunday, May 2. Anyone who attended any of the highlighted venues on the dates and within the periods specified is asked to get tested immediately, and then to isolate and await further information and instructions. Also, that request applies to absolutely everyone who attended the highlighted locations — regardless of whether you've been partially or fully vaccinated.
On the list: Event Cinemas in Bondi Junction, during a screening of The Courier from 6–8pm on Friday, April 30, plus Figo Restaurant in Rushcutters Bay from 8.45–11pm the same night. On Saturday, May 1, the man visited Joe's Barbeques and Heating in Silverwater from 1–1.45pm, Tucker Barbecues in Silverwater during the same window of time, Barbeques Galore in Annandale from 2–3pm and the same chain in Casula from 4–5pm. He also went to BP Mascot from 4.30–5pm on Saturday, May 1, and to The Meat Store in Bondi Junction from 3–4pm on Sunday, May 2.
As it has throughout the pandemic, NSW Health is maintaining an ongoing register of locations that have been visited by positive COVID-19 cases — you can check out the entire list on its website.
And, if you need a reminder, the symptoms to look out for are coughs, fever, sore or scratchy throat, shortness of breath, or loss of smell or taste. You can find a rundown of testing clinic locations online as well.
This morning, NSW had reported 108 active COVID-19 cases in in the state at present, including ten new cases in overseas quarantine today.
