Wine Lover's Weekenders
Three NSW wine regions, three very different weekend escapes for the viticulture enthusiast. The Hunter Valley is the oldest and busiest wine region in Australia, where some of the first vineyard were planted in the early 1800s. Those wanting a more off the beaten track wine experience head to Mudgee or the Southern Highlands. Mudgee's warm, temperate climate is ideal for fancy Mediterranean varieties, like tempranillo and garnacha, while the cool-climate Southern Highlands is the place to go for pinot noir sipping by the fireplace.
