Overview

We all want to be living our best lives and feeling ourselves, but sometimes it can be difficult to determine if what we're throwing money at in the name of wellness and self-care is legit. After all, there's a lot of under-researched theories out there, from Gwyneth Paltrow-approved jade eggs to essential oil-peddling pyramid schemes. If you're after more reliable treatments then Bionik Wellness could be worth a look.

Having just opened in the heart of Surry Hills on buzzing Crown Street, the wellness and recovery centre has nine state-of-the-art treatments available — including an infrared sauna room — all with the purpose of helping Sydneysiders improve their athletic ability, recover from surgery or illness, improve fat loss, increase muscle gain or reduce the signs of ageing.

In terms of treatments, the Functional Magnetic Stimulation engages and contracts muscles giving up to 50,000 contractions in 30 minutes — way more than you could achieve in your average gym session — and can target lower and mid-back pain. While the Cold Compression Therapy uses cryotherapy to speed up recovery for athletes by at least 20 percent. If you were looking to get glowing skin, you can book in for a little Smart Light Stimulation treatment, which aims to improve sun damage, acne, scars and signs of ageing. And if the past 12 months have left you strung out, try out the AirPod Hydroxy Therapy, which will see you in a relaxing cocoon pumped with oxygen and hydrogen to help reduce fatigue, burn out, stress, depression, joint pain and skin issues.

You can either choose to hit up the centre on an ad hoc basis, or sign up to one of its membership packages.

And, to celebrate its launch this month, Bionik Wellness is giving away a three-month membership (valued at over $2000), plus a weekend wellness retreat in the Blue Mountains, a spa voucher to use during your stay and a Fitbit. To score this prize, enter via the website.

Bionik Wellness is now open seven days a week, from 10am–7pm Monday–Friday and from 10am–4pm Saturdays and Sundays. For more information — and to check out its full range of treatments — head over here
