Overview

This time of year means a few things for Aussies: increased time outdoors, the start of the end-of-year celebrations, and the trend of men growing funky facial hair. Given everything we've experienced over the past ten months, we'll be welcoming all three with enthusiasm. Yes, even the facial hair. Especially the facial hair, because it happens for a very good cause.

Every November, blokes around the world collect donations from their friends, family and coworkers in return for growing the best, bushiest or downright kookiest moustache they can in 30 days. All donations go to Movember, the leading charity for men's health, which raises awareness and funds for mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

This year, Concrete Playground is getting involved, too. On Friday, October 30, we'll be hosting a day of free shave downs to prepare your face for a month of moustache growing. Sign up for Movember via the website or app, then book your spot at Bondi barbershop Badlambs for a traditional wet shave — we're talking hot towels, straight razors and fancy skincare products — and we'll foot the bill.

Not blessed with fast-growing facial hair? There are a bunch of other ways you can get involved with Movember. Move with Movember encourages you to run or walk 60 kilometres across the month, or you could Host a Mo-ment, like a games night or sports tournament. Or, if you have another epic endurance challenge you want to conquer, like a multi-day hike or bike ride, you can always Mo Your Own Way.

Sign up to Grow for Movember, then make a booking for your free wet shave on Friday, October 30 here. Or get involved in another way over here.
