Overview

Of all the artistic events in Sydney, the Sydney International Art Series stands out as one of the most culturally rich on the yearly calendar. Over the course of several months and across multiple galleries, the program profiles international artists who have rarely or never exhibited on Australian soil in their own solo shows.

Past artists include Tacita Dean, Picasso, Pipilotti Rist, Henri Matisse, Yoko Ono, Louise Bourgeois and Grayson Perry at the Art Gallery of NSW and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. This year, the two galleries are hosting the following exhibitions: Magritte, at AGNSW until February 9, 2025; Julie Mehretu: A Transcore of the Radical Imaginatory, at MCA until April 27, 2025; and Cao Fei: My City is Yours 曹斐: 欢迎登陆, at AGNSW until April 13, 2025.

If you want to make the most of the opportunity and see all the works of these renowned artists for one expenditure, pick up an Art Pass. This ticket gives you access to all three exhibitions and gives you plenty of cause to enjoy a cultural day out in Sydney, especially considering that MCA and AGNSW are linked by one of the prettiest walking (or most convenient public transport) routes in the city. All you need to do is buy yours online.
