Overview
If you're after a fun late-lunch or early dinner with a lot of flavour, Lazy Sundays at Calle Rey is it. Every Sunday from 2–7pm, this funky little Mexican eatery on King Street in Newtown is serving up $5 tacos, $8 beers and $12 happy hour cocktails all afternoon.
The restaurant is known for its tasty plant-based options, with vegan tacos sitting alongside adobo beef, pork carnitas, chicken and crispy shrimp. Almost everything is gluten free, nut free and dairy free too, so everyone at the table will be looked after.

If you time your visit right, you'll also score a side of trivia too. Kicking off at 5pm every second Sunday, trivia takes over the restaurant's midcentury-style bar with friendly competition and prizes to be won.
While some happy hours are made for a quick pit stop, this is one you'll want to settle in for a while.
Check out Lazy Sundays at Calle Rey from 2–7pm at 62–64 King Street, Newtown or learn more on their website.
