Overview

At Alma, chef Henrique Sá Pessoa brings world influences and techniques into quintessentially Portuguese cuisine, presented with beauty and flair. The two Michelin-star, fine-dining restaurant has one eye on culinary tradition and another on innovation, serving more than just a delicious meal. "We serve emotions, identity, knowledge," they proclaim.

The setting is sophisticated but subdued – brown slate and wood-panelled wall features with leather banquettes. Here, the food grabs all the attention. There are three dining options: Costa a Costa (five dishes showcasing the finest of Portuguese coastline, with a focus on sustainability), Alma (traditional Portuguese flavours reimagined) and a la carte. While the menu changes seasonally, you can expect creative dishes like 'Cobblestreet' salted cod, with samos, onion purée and egg yolk; scarlet shrimp with pumpkin, harissa and black garlic; and the curious 'Sea flavours and citrus 2.0', with yuzu sorbet, crystallised algae and citrus curd. All dishes are complemented with stunning wines and a cocktail list that nods to the multicultural make-up of Portugal.
