Overview
Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre must be one of the only places in the world where you can saddle up for a trail ride this close to a city centre, running 30- and 60-minute rides along a flat, circular trail through the parklands. It's designed to suit beginners — no prior riding experience required, and the flat course keeps first-timers from getting too nervous.
Five separate resident riding schools operate out of the centre, each running its own mix of ride options, lessons and courses, so it's worth comparing a couple before booking. For something a bit more atmospheric than an average Tuesday ride, ask about the dawn or dusk circuits — the same trail, with better light.
