The Rocks Ghost Tours
Two hours of Sydney's darkest colonial history, told after dark.
Overview
The Rocks Ghost Tours run nightly from Cadman's Cottage — Australia's oldest surviving residential building — and spend a full two hours working through the neighbourhood's convict-era laneways after sundown. Guides split the route into a Dark North and Dark South version, covering stops like Foundation Park, Susannah Place and the Big Dig Site, with stories passed down through generations about the convicts, unsolved deaths and mysterious burials tied to each address.
Because so many of The Rocks' original residents never chose to be there, the tour leans into the idea that some of them never really left — expect ghost stories rooted in real historical record rather than jump-scares. Tours depart twice an evening and run $55 a head for adults.
