Overview
Aro Valley is soon to unleash everything that makes it the quirkiest suburb of Wellington in a one day extravaganza of food, music and fanfare in the form of Aro Vallery Fair.
Wellington’s inner-city suburb of Aro Valley was first developed as a working-class residential suburb in the late 19th century taking its name from the stream which originally flowed where modern Epuni Street is. Now one of the city’s most well-known areas, the Aro Valley fair is run by the Aro Valley Community Council, an elected volunteer group established in 1978 to recognise and meet the changing needs of the Aro Valley community, and responsible for much of the areas famous community spirit.
The fair will feature bands and solo artists performing on two stages. (One of these two, the Sun Stage, is run by Generation Zero and aims to use funds raised to make Aro Valley the first community centre in Wellington to be solar powered.)
There will also be the usual fair stalls selling food, crafts, and a plethora of other wholesome delights. Some such vendors include Fix and Fogg peanut butter, The Green Grocer juices and ice blocks, Komodo Food Truck, The Dumpling House and The Preservatorium Café.
Roving performers will also be around to surprise and delight punters throughout the fairground over the course of the day.
