Brush Pen Workshop

Overview

If your RSI fingers are tired of typing office memos and you're after creating words you can admire, and not just read, Matchbox Studios are hosting a brush lettering workshop on Saturday July 5.

Calligraphy is a highly personal typographic art form, with each calligrapher's technique - their speed, acceleration and deceleration of the writer's moves, turns and crotchets and the stroke order all influencing the final look of their typography. Obviously, the shape, size, stretch, and hair type of the ink brush, the colour, colour density and water density of the ink, as well as the paper's water absorption speed and surface texture also play an important part.
