Overview

Tex-Mex songsmiths Calexico are about to heat up our summer with a one-off show at the Opera House. With them, they will bring a sonic road trip through their vast two-decade discography, as well as their latest and critically acclaimed album, The Thread that Keeps Us.

Known for their genre-melding and eclectic sound, Calexico began as a experimental duo in 1996. Core members Joey Burns and John Convertino have since grown the band in both its sound and size across nine studio albums. And yet, their sound has consistently leapt over boundaries and redrawn them. Each time they have created something fresh, and yet somehow hauntingly familiar. The latest album is no exception, with recent single, 'Under the Wheels', as a prime example for its instant swagger-inducing mix of cumbia, funk and indie. Likewise, 'End of the World With You' gives you something completely different, with an uplifting folky sing-along, perfect for singing arm-in-arm with your pals while miming those guitar solos.

Without a doubt this will be a night of shimmeringly hot music and lively cantina atmosphere. Grab your tickets here if you don't want to miss out on the party.
