Chimera: A Dinner Series
This fresh Auckland dining series makes its way to the capital.
Overview
Conor Mertens and Carly Black's pop-up has previously seen just over a dozen diners assemble in a basement for a feast created with a barbecue. For their next outing Chimera: A Dinner Series is stopping off at Wellington's Glass restaurant from February 11 until March 4. Chef Mertens previously made a name for himself at Auckland's Orphans Kitchen — his food is said to be fresh and delicious, inspired by global cuisines with a unique twist — while Black is known as a professional coffee taster.
The pop-up will be serving up a range of dishes from a curated menu that includes a few surprises along the way. Some of the dinner favourites include albacore tuna with bone marrow and rosemary, wong bok with mushroom and verbena, and octopus with pickled walnut and green plum.
For something sweet there's the French-inspired comte with vin jaune and honey, or cherry, bitter chocolate and herbs. Food will be paired with wine selected and recommended from expert Jonathan from Glass.
Jonathan and Emily, the duo behind the wine bar and bistro, are passionate about discovering great boutique wines with a focus on natural and sustainable products.
The lunch service will run from 12–2.30pm, bar snacks will be available from 3—5pm and dinner from 5pm until late. Bookings can be made on the Glass website or over the phone.
