One of the greatest culinary trends of 2019 has been themed high teas. There have been boozy late-night sessions with whimsical cocktails, tea parties for gin lovers and afternoons of gastronomic magic for wizards, witches, goblins and muggles. Following on from its Bourgeois Burger High Tea event as part of WOAP, QT Wellington is hosting a tiered feast dedicated to the fairytale world of Hansel and Gretel.

In line with Royal New Zealand Ballet's Hansel & Gretel world premiere, choreographed by Loughlan Prior and a specially commissioned score by Claire Cowan, this whimsical high tea is available at the property's Hippopotamus Restaurant & Cocktail Bar.

Follow the breadcrumbs to find Hippo's sweet and savoury menu. It features gingerbread cake houses, cotton candy macaron lollipops, upside-down ice cream, spiced chai pumpkin pie, garlic and ricotta scones and more.

The Hansel and Gretel-themed high tea will be available from Wednesday, 6 November to Sunday, 10 November, 2019, with sittings from 2pm–4.30pm. Tickets are $45 per person with indulgent beverage upgrades available.
