Overview

Koha Yoga in Newtown is a community group hosted by passionate and experienced teachers who are giving up their time to share the art of yoga. Split between two venues, depending on availability, there are around eight sessions per week. The classes range from your classic Vinyasa Flow to Power Ashtanga yoga. There is even a BYO baby class for busy mums and dads.

Regular updates are posted on the Koha Yoga Facebook page. There are limited yoga mats available to use at both the Daniell and Colombo Street halls. Most classes are $2 so are accessible for all. For the koha sessions, donations are put back into the community centres — the suggested koha is between $5 to $10. Often the classes wrap up with a cup of chai tea, shared with the good company of fellow yogis.

There is no need to book, so check out the timetable and head down to either community hall to partake in some exercise for the mind, body and soul.

The current Koha Yoga classes are:

Monday, 6.45–8pm — (Koha) Colombo Street
Tuesday, 10–11.15am — ($2 and baby friendly) Colombo Street
Tuesday, 6–7pm — (Koha) Daniell Street
Wednesday, 7–8pm — (Koha) Daniell Street
