A surreal new dance piece based on Dali's intense love of the titular crustacean.

Overview

Borderline Arts Ensemble have brought us some very daring performance arts since they formed in — The Surrealists and The Shyness of Trees in recent years — and have crafted a new ode to surrealism with Lobsters at Circa Theatre.

Creator Lucy Marinkovich has worked around the world, and recently found inspiration in the Salvador Dali Museum in Spain. The father of surrealism, Dali was absolutely obsessed with lobsters, associating the delicious creatures with eroticism and femininity. Inspired by Dali's love of the absurd, Lucy choreographed Lobsters.

Lobsters focuses on what happens when we're crushed, disappointed and left wanting more by our attempts to create romance and connection. The show is a series of collisions and explosions of the dance variety, as the performers look to each other for meaning and connection but bounce off each other without exposing their inner selves.

This is performance with a penchant for the bizarre, the playful and for non-sequiturs. Dadaists, book tickets immediately.
