Overview

As the days become shorter and chillier in the capital, LUX Light Festival arrives on the Wellington scene — a beacon of winter's imminent arrival and a reminder that the dark nights bring with them the year's brightest experience.

Bundle up and head outdoors to enjoy our capital aglow — the product of giving artists, architects, and designers free reign to turn the city streets into their luminescent canvas. LUX transforms Wellington's waterfront and city laneways into a fantastical array of more than 30 light art sculptures, installations, performances, and interactive activities from both New Zealand and abroad.

A captivating two-week celebration of the world's most cutting-edge light art, design, and technology will delight audiences of all ages. Bring your family or feel like a child yourself amongst light displays that instil wonder and encourage playfulness. For more detailed descriptions and updates on installations, visit the LUX website.
