Overview

Marlon Williams mesmerises audiences with swooning vocals, powerful lyrics and driving indie-country-folk rhythms. This November the Kiwi musician will be hitting New Zealand shores again to play for the folks at home.

Williams will play one Wellington show at San Fran, which is the perfect venue for an intimate, foot stomping gig.

The Lyttleton-born artist has opened for the likes of Bruce Springsteen and picked up two New Zealand Music Awards since the release of his 2015 self-titled solo album. This time round, Williams will be perfoming his brand new release, Vampire Again, which he wrote in Lyttleton and recorded with producer Ben Edwards.

The single is something that came from a sudden urge to leave the house and see the LA Opera perform Nosferatu. It happened to be halloween, so Marlon decided to dress up for the occasion. "Turns out I was running late, and when I finally enter the theatre everyone was already seated and the overture had begun," he says. "What's more, no one else was dressed up. Well they were, but in tuxedos and lovely dresses. And there was nowhere for stoned ole spindleboots to sit. So, I hunched and crawled my way down the aisle and sat on the floor like it was the most reasonable thing to do at an opera."

He admits the experience was the catalyst for his new song, and explains that it's his "own demented tale of new age self-affirmation". Which makes the song that much cooler.
